Wow, it's been awhile!

8 months ago was my last post, so I had better start blogging and start crafting again.  I haven't made a card in ages and I haven't done a layout in about 2 years!

I am trying to get into the party business.  I have an idea where I can help mums run their kids (or other adults') parties.  I want to offer services from lolly jar hire for buffets to organising and decorating parties.  From making cake pops to invitations, to organsing the party games - anything the host needs doing I want to be able to do.

I have set up my email, designed (but not printed) my business cards and decided on a business name.  It's called Giggle Pop Creations and I believe it represents fun, parties and colour - right up my alley! Now all I lack is confidence, money and time - haha - the impossible dream when I lack those key ingredients.

So I have decided that after picking up the nasty habit of smoking for 3 months (yes it was a social Christmas) I won't get anywhere if I spend all my money on cigarettes.  So today, after a few previously failed attempts, this is the day - I probably picked the worst day to do  it - not only am I suffering from PMS today but I am coming down with something and feeling pretty miserable. :O(
It's never going to be a good day!

But as women do, we battle on, no rest for the wicked, noone to look after the Mum, just have to suck it up and keep going.

My goal over the next few months is to firstly get my humongous bills paid and get my Mum paid off (a loan I couldn't avoid getting - the result of a shocking week of horrible occurrances that spiralled out of control before my very eyes - but that's another story.)

Then I plan on expanding my apothecary jar collection - I have these so far....

x2 of these
x2 of these
x2 of these

x1 of these which is a huge jar.

Then I have an assortment of bowls, white platters and cake stands, one of which I love  that looks a little like this but mine has the levels graduating in size.

So you can see why I want to get into it.

A few months back I helped a girlfriend throw her 4 year old a pirates and princesses party.  It looked ok, I couldn't get the differing themes gelled the way i wanted but it looked ok in the end and of course it didn't matter what I thought as long as the kids loved it - which they did - they demolished it!  lol

That was the trial and it went off with a bang - I am just going to throw myself in and hope I can swim.

I still have to work out what I am going to charge but I think that will depend on how much the host wants me to do.  Apart from cake pops I am going to stay away from food - just offer suggestions and recipes instead of making it - transporting food can be a pain - this party was only down the street and it was hard enough the get the jelly to stay upright in the car...lol

So wish me luck I will be checking in more often and updating you all on my progress and getting into craft a bit more hopefully too.

Back in the teaching chair again

My first workshop down at Live 4 Scrapbooking (L4S) at Penrith went well tonight - I taught 15 Pretty Cards using the Kaisercraft Lakehouse range with 7 lovely ladies who worked so hard to get 15 cards done.  Unfortunately that is too many so half the ladies stayed back to finish them and I emailed the pics over to the others.  They all had a great afternoon though and can't wait for the next one so that's always a good sign.  I'm happy with that.

Here's the workshop:

My next one is using another paperpad selection from Kaiser - Magnolia Grove - that one will be 10 cards in a bag and i think we may give that one a 3 hr time limit...lol

More to come, stay tuned, have some more workshops planned....

Another 30 year ols - gosh i'm feeling old...

2nd girlfriend to turn 30 this year - Tania.  Being 34 and the second oldest of our little group of "Desperate Houswives", 30 seems so long ago....lol, i'll say that again when i turn 50 and it will make more sense.  On the other hand hanging out with a bunch of 30 year olds (and 28 and 29) makes me feel a little younger at times and let me tell you I am normally the last woman standing at the end of a big night...experience and age pays off for once! haha.

Here's Tania's card from all of us "old Chicks"

Materials:
Stamping Bella Stamp - Everyday Princess
DCC Paper Pads - BIG W
Pearls - stash
Rub on - stash
copics
Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder
Walnut Stain Distress Ink
EK Success punches.

busy little bee this past week.

What a FULL ON week! I am (in a way) so glad it's over.  Haylee turned 6 on Thursday and we had a craft/cupcake party for her on Saturday.  Here are some pics of the crafty things....

This is her birthday card I made for her.  Nothing flashy, i was kind all crafted out by then...

The food table

The cupcakes ready for the party girls to decorate and the ewok biscuits that were supposed to be bees but just didn't turn out...lol I didn't say I was good at food!

The lolly bags

The cake pops

The craft table

The girls' water bottles

The cupcake boxes

The birthday girl, Haylee. xx
Great party, the girls had a ball, Hay received gorgeous gifts, loved every one.  She was exhausted by the end of the day and so was I.  Can't wait to do it again.

Footy's on so I'm crafting...

State of Origin doesn't interest me as much as it used to so when it's on, as well as any other game of footy for that matter, I sneak off to my craft room...
Tonight I finished up a card I was making for Haylee's friends birthday.  Jasmine who turns 6 and celebrating her party this weekend...
The Greeting Farm's Creeper Crew - Thursday.
Inside - using My Favourite Things Die-namics - By The Letter.s Outside using Bling Bling pink rhinestones, Distress inks, The Twinery Twine, Tim Holtz Adage Tickets, Spellbinders Die, patterned paper from The Sweet Glitter Stack and cardstock from The Jewel Coloured Cardstock Stack and of course my fave toys, my copics.

And one more - a "just playing" card, not going to anyone in particular...using Kaszazz Magnolia stamp, Copic Markers, Kaisercraft rub on, Spellbinders die cut, Kaisercraft Rhinestones, Kaszazz butterfly punch, ice stickles, cardstock, Kaszazz Oatmeal Cardstock, vellum and Clearsnap Smooch.

Hope you like...

First layout in how long?

a while....couldn't tell you exactly how long but thought I would start it off with a kit I bought quite a while ago from Fred the Needle - a Gillian Lester design - love your work Gill!  Got a tad frustrated at trying to make the frame go around all the flowers but eventually got it to sit still long enough to whack some tape on it before it moved again. Another round of frustration to get the pleated paper to stick to the chipboard dress makers stand - and then the ribbon over the top - tried my best..lol... 12.30am finish and ta da!!!!  Thinking I might put this one in one of my scrapbook frames ....only challenge now is to convince Peter to put them on the wall instead of the football jerseys...a mighty task in itself!

Scrapping some old pics of Brock tonight so will post when I finish.

Haylee is turning 6

Haylee is having a 6th birthday party (if she lives to see 6 anyway - the way she's going at the moment that's debateable) with 7 of her girlfriends.  They are going to be making a door haanger and I am thinking about maybe doing a cakepop decorating thing as well or marshmallows - not sure yet. Anyway she handed out her invo's this morning and here they are last night all finished....

I used Purple glittery bazzill, blue bazzill and white cardstock.  I used some flowers I had picked up at a craft show, sewed them together with a Kaszazz button using DMC cotton and some brads from an old Creative Impressions embellishment pack.  I used a Tiddly Inks digi and coloured them in with copics..

About Me

My photo
Hello and welcome to my work in progress....I am a mum of two very outgoing children who keep me on my feet all day. A wife to a man who works hard for our family and doesn't like my craft at all (lol) and a dedicated yet part time Admin Assistant for a charity organisation. I have a love for motorbike riding as well as craft and love to shop - who doesn't right?! Back onto craft - craft in general has been a BIG part of my life for so many years I couldn't possibly tell you when it all first started. Around 2008 I fell in love with Papercrafting, of all forms, off the page, scrapbooking and card making and stamping (my fave). Going from just fun to running my own party plan business with Kaszazz and then back to "just for fun". I hope you enjoy the journey with me as I experiment with techniques, colours and product and learn with me also as I inevitably make mistakes and disasters....all in good fun. Enjoy!!
