As most of my friends and family would already be aware we are entering the building world! In early 2011 we purchased a 375m2 block right up the road from our first house in a home and land package with Zac Homes, a local builder who used to specialise in mansions but have started with smaller homes too. Everything I write about or comment about in this blog is only info I have been told or things i am led to believe so I suppose it's all just heresay.....just so I can't get into trouble with someone saying "that's not right" gotta watch you back with publishing things...
Anyway, we have gone through the loooong wait of our land being registered through council so we could finally pay for our block, start a new mortgage and begin the build. All of that has happened in the last 2 weeks. Today we went out there to inspect the progress as we were told it would be started this week....and lo and behold it has! The blocks opposite us are a stage in front as it seems between 5 of us we are the last down the line....someone has to be...lol, so I have some pics to post of the block block taking shape from the time we purchased up to today. I am trying so hard not to take pics of the neighbours blocks with their one stage ahead of us and just focussing on ours which is hard as we are seeing what ours is going to look like in another week.
This is our baby block, from where Brock is standing over to the left where the phone box is. It actually looks huge in the photo.
Some lovely green grass has grown there but is now gone :O(
This is our water tap out the front (not for drinking) as the sign says and the one on the right behind our Lot 9 peg is Lot 10's water thingy....
This is the view we have from where abouts our family room will be ..hehe...we have a one way road from right to left and a central park in between us and the matching developments across the road. These guys are getting done first.
This is me looking very excited - kinda - Brock took the pic and I wasn't ready.
So now we have a few from today, the actual start of progress....
The bulldozer was there this morning and the final product is this....they have levelled out where the house is going, put the gravel rock down where the driveway starts - probably for the machinery to get up there and pushed all the dirt up the back.
It seems like we may have a slight incline to the front and only a small patch of grass as our front yard- perfect for Peter who is so over mowing (coming from a 716m2 block) he loved the small patch of grass today.
Stepping back onto the road to show the fences up and the grass patch.
His name is Wayne and first impressions is he is lovely and patient - something we are going to need - I told him we are new to the game and this is our first house and he says he prefers newbies. He says weather permitting (a phrase I am very familiar with already) our slab should be laid by the end of next week. I will take some more pics early next week to show the foundations and the foam - yes our house will be built on foam - a fairly common thing these days to allow for movement in the earth so the walls don't crack etc. as well as cement of course..hehe.
And to put the craft bugs at ease, here is Haylee's 5th birthday card from Tuesday that i made for her.
So that's it for today. I hope you will be back to follow our many joys and dramas throughout the build and I hope i don't bore you too much. :O)
